‘Tangledeep’ is the Turn-based RPG Roguelike for Your Soul

With games like Octopath Traveler, I Am Setsuna, Lost Sphear, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, the Nintendo Switch is slowly becoming a new home for JRPGs. The genres have always been big on portable consoles, and the Switch’s hybrid portable nature means you can grind on the go, and plop down on your couch for an epic boss battle at home. With the mother of all JRPGs, Final Fantasy, dropping a big number of their classic titles later this year, it’s easy to overlook other games along the way.

Don’t sleep on Tangledeep.

You know that I love roguelikes. They’re perfect for quick bursts of play, and the procedural generation these games offer lends to hours of non-stop gameplay. I’ve seen developers take the roguelike formula and apply it to dungeon crawlers, turn-based strategy games, hard-as-nails platformers, metroidvania-style games, and I suspect we’ll be seeing more permutations of this formula in the future.

Classic Roguelike Elements Return

Which is great, as Tangledeep combines the tactical, turn-based gameplay of traditional roguelikes with a deep job system and highly-customizable equipment. It’s also a game you can disappear in – highly-inspired by SNES-era RPGs, the detailed pixel art is mixed with an amazing soundtrack.

A Job System You’ll Love

Tangledeep’s robust and customizable job system features 12 unique jobs and more than 100 skills to master. The game also supports a number of features designed to give adventurers the perfect level of difficulty. For example, players can opt for the true roguelike challenge of permadeath – or simply return to town upon death. It’s also possible to share progress between characters by using the banking system.

Get It On The Go

So if you want to take this amazing roguelike RPG with you, wherever you go, Imact Gameworks’ Tangledeep is now available on the Nintendo Switch eShop , for $19.99 USD. It’s also available on Steam and GOG if you prefer playing it on PC.
