EraserheadsI honestly don’t want to write about the Eraserheads because, well, everyone else is blogging about it now and I don’t know what else to add to the babble. I don’t want to write a blow-by-blow account of the concert, or even a recollection of my favorite moments. I shan’t bore you with that. But still, even though it’s been a day after the concert, I’m still on a high and I’m typing away this entry even if I can barely keep my eyes open.

I’m not the biggest Eraserheads fan around. I know of a hundred people who can claim that they are the biggest fan. I only have Cutterpillow and Fruitcake (plus the book) in my collection. Like so many people, I thought they jumped the shark when Sticker Happy came out. I’ve never seen them perform live.

But if you’re a kid growing up in the 90’s, they’re inescapable. I was able to get a copy of Circus recently and I was amazed to discover that I know every track by heart, thanks to my class adviser who played the album in an endless loop every single day of my 5th grade life. (more…)

A Generation Gap, I Has It.

Maybe it’s just me, but is the decade I grew in really that far off? I know I get bummed off a bit when I see the music videos I like being played on VH1 or the songs I used to listen to being played on Retro Wednesdays or something. It kind of gives me affirmation that I’m some old geezer because you know, the kids are listening to awfully cool music nowadays and that I’m stuck listening to old geezer stuff. While telling the kids to turn down that damn noise they call music. While I wave my cane wildly around. You call that music? Why in my day, we had to play with instruments. Blindfolded! And our pants’ waistlines were raised all the way up to our armpits. The wedgies were horrible, but damn, we looked snappy. (more…)
