Mortal Kombat X is a game I am looking forward to. I don’t know, maybe I’m a sucker for bloody video game violence that’ll make a couple of parents’ groups gasp and do the sign of the cross while I’m on my phone in the bus. I really don’t care if the gameplay is exactly the same as Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile, and I really hated that game when it first came out. Right now I’m still playing it everyday, grinding like there’s no tomorrow, so I can tap like crazy and get that Superman. I don’t know. I stopped caring. I just like beating the hell out of the Joker.
Anyway, no matter how much they changed the gameplay, we’re playing Mortal Kombat for one thing, and it’s not the fascinating story. We’re all here for the Fatalities. If Mortal Kombat wasn’t bloody and brutal, we might as well give up. Anybody remember Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe? Yeah, thought so.
So I braced myself for a toned-down Mortal Kombat X Mobile. And the first gameplay video came out, and, well, I guess you have to watch it first.
Ok, I’ll admit that the “You have eyes, but will not see” / “I’ll see you… die!” banter between Scorpion and Sub-Zero wasn’t the best-written piece of dialogue. Yeah, it was terrible. But let’s focus on the good thing: wasn’t that video fantastically bloody? I really want to be able to do more than to tap away until I hate myself for doing nothing else with my last two hours, but at least they kept the great parts intact. I’m good with it.
