iOS Games I'm Playing Right Now

You know, I haven’t been updating this blog for a while now. Why do you keep on coming back? It’s not like I’m regaling you with stories of how stupid my life is recently. Do you see me whining here about the assholes I ride with on the MRT? No. And it’s not like I don’t have shit to tell you, my life’s been fucking eventful and all as of late. But this is not what I want to talk about, internet. Let us sit down, while I hold your hand, look deep into your eyes, and wait for you to be genuinely interested in what I have to say.

You see, I seriously want to talk about my favorite iOS games for this month. It’s very important that I have to talk to you about these apps that I love using right now. You know where my weekends go.

The Dark Meadow

I like this game, but it feels like a watered-down Infinity Blade, at least in gameplay. And since Infinity Blade is one of my ultimate all-time favorite iOS games, this shouldn’t bode well for Dark Meadow, right? What this game doesn’t have in gameplay, it makes up for it in storytelling. Dark, creepy, if not a bit repetitive, Dark Meadow is survival horror for iOS done right. I played this game the first time on the day before Halloween, and I swear, I was getting creeped the fuck out. I spit at you, you stupid Silent Hill iOS game, this is how you do it.

Mage Gauntlet

I have a soft spot in my heart for old-school 16-bit RPGs, and new games that do homage to that era. Mage Gauntlet is one such game. It’s not the best game out there, and it’s extremely fucking difficult, but it has a charm and humor of its own that I can’t help but play with it for hours.

Zombie Gunship

Zombies. Who doesn’t love them? I’m such a sucker for the reanimated flesh-eating corpses, which explains my impulsive need to pick up every single game on the App Store that features them. If you check out my iPod touch, you’d find at least 5 zombie titles that I play regularly. Zombie Gunship is my current zombie-related iOS title as of the moment. And amazingly, it’s not scary at all, since I’m playing a character on a helicopter, shooting at zombies from a distance. And that’s all there is to this game. You just prevent a bunch of zombies from getting into a bunker filled with humans, and you do it by raining bullets from the sky! Be careful not to kill any humans mixed with the zombies, though, because that will suck.

Another World

Man, THIS GAME. I’ve been playing this game the entire weekend, and it’s so fucking hard. It’s the story of a scientist named Lester, who has one of his experiments going wrong for him, and he somehow ends up on an alien world to survive on his own. This is a classic, and it is considered to be one of the finest games ever released for any platform.

I wasn’t able to play the original when it first came out in 1991, so I’m practically going through this blind. And even during the few times I checked walkthroughs just to get beyond the extremely difficult parts, I still die like 20 times per puzzle. I usually end up screaming my lungs out and possessed with an urge to dropkick my iPod touch.

In other words, this game is amazing.

So these are the games I’m playing right now on my iPod touch. Tell me what your favorite iOS games and apps are!
