Having a female Thor has been very controversial for Marvel.

There were fans who were opposed to change, and others who embraced it wholeheartedly. Of course, that’s to be expected from any major change from the status quo, like how Marvel’s current Secret Wars are making a lot of old-time fans – especially ones who have been burnt over and over again by DC’s endless reboots – nervous.

However, the new female Thor was not a failure. Her comics have been outselling the old Thor’s by 25%, and although one can argue that it’s because the novelty of the new Thor is still fresh, it’s quite clear that she’s going to stay for a while.

However, we don’t know who she is.

if-she-be-worthy

It’s been a long-running mystery ever since she took over. We’ve had a long list of suspects, but there was no clear answer who the successor to Mjölnir – and the mantle of Thor – is.

With the release of Thor #8 her identity is now revealed. And it may come as a surprise to many.

Again, MAJOR SPOILERS for Thor #8 below.
