Dentist Time at K Dental Studio!

A couple of weeks back, I managed to get out of my computer chair for a few hours to visit K Dental Studio at Medical Plaza Ortigas. I was a bit nervous – you see, dental hygiene isn’t really a priority when you live on the internet and I was scared to find out what sort of evils live in my mouth without my knowledge.

Unlike most people, I’m not scared of dentists and their drills and torture chamber-like examination rooms. However, I can totally understand where the fear is coming from. Try sitting on that chair for hours with your mouth wired open while a half-interested dental assistant pokes your mouth with various implements that look like they came straight out of a horror film – yeah, that will surely break even the strongest of spirits.

I was surprised at how different K Dental Studio feels like from other dental clinics I’ve been to. Yes it still looks like a clinic, but it’s doesn’t have that foreboding sense of doom that most people feel when they visit other clinics.(...)

I noticed lately that I have been writing about Doctor Who on this blog a lot. I mean, it’s okay since my beginner’s guide to the show has been cited by no less than the official BBCA Doctor Who Tumblr as a great guide for new Whovians. But when you see nothing but “DOCTOR WHO DOCTOR WHO DOCTOR WHO DOCTOR WHO DOCTOR WHO DOCTOR WHO DOCTOR WHO DOCTOR WHO DOCTOR WHO DOCTOR WHO DOCTOR WHO ” when you open up this blog, it’s time to switch formats. Again. I’m surprised I don’t get comments that say “ADE STOP BLOGGING ABOUT DOCTOR WHO ALREADY OK WE GET IT YOU LIKE THE SHOW.”

And just in time, because Bim opened up a new site catering to all sorts of geekery. It’s called Geek Out, and it’s filled to the brim with goodies for, well, geeks. Tips for Beginner Runners (That I Disregarded)

A month ago, I started taking steps to get physically fit again. I’ve long given up on exercise, but I don’t want to keel over and die of a heart attack or some other obesity-related sickness by the time I’m 35, so I have to start somewhere and start working out again, right? Actually, a friend just forcibly signed me up for this shit and I don’t know what the hell I’m doing. Imagine a scene where I’m being dragged out of my room by five people, while I was screaming “NO, I DON’T WANT TO LEAVE THE SAFETY OF MY BASEMENT MY COMICS ARE KEEPING ME COMPANY FUCK YOU NO I DON’T WANT TO SEE SUNLIGHT NO” as I struggle to hold my bag of Cheetos in one hand. No, that didn’t happen, what kind of person did you think I was?

Starting exercising again after around a few years (shut up and fuck you) isn’t really that easy. However, I’m doing this for just a month and I actually feel better already. I think I look better too.

Anyway, here are a few tips I learned over the course of a month that made the transition from a fat and lazy idiot to an active (but fat) individual.(...)

Hello there, readers, or whoever is left reading this blog. I’ve got a lot of new things in life I want to talk about with you, like my new-found love for running (coupled with the realization that I’m about to hit 30 in a couple of years, and being a fat lazy fuck isn’t going to work for me anymore) and if you want to have fun watching a fat sweaty guy drive himself to near-collapse, you are more than welcome to join me run or jog or crawl on weekends.

But I’m not here to talk about that. If you must know, I also play the bass, and my band, Lose Your Beer Belly, has a gig on the 27th. It’s a benefit for Kythe, a charity that helps kids stricken with cancer. Yes, this blogger is doing something socially worthwhile. What, you think I sit around in one corner shouting all sorts of synonyms of penis all day? Well, yes, I do that, but that’s not the point.

Anyway, we’ll be playing with other awesome bands such as Mayonnaise, Delara, The Out Of Body Special, Maryzark, Nyctinasty, NATF, Dhruva Tara, Epiphany, Evenstar, Acoustica, Sven, Lumbayao, and The Royal! Entrance is 150 pesos, but you get a free drink!

Good Day Mister Taxi Driver,

The moment I hailed you, 60-year old elderly taxi driver who doesn’t look like he can harm a fly, I thought I was going to have a nice and quiet ride home. You see, I had a long day at work, and to top it off, I was drunk and tired. All I needed on the one hour ride home was some peace and quiet and possibly a taxi driver awake enough to not crash into a tree and kill the both of us. I’m not asking for too much.

And then, you had to show up and ask me about my weight. I’m not exactly the fittest person around. I know my stomach’s the size of a small calf, but I don’t really discuss my weight with a total stranger. So I just gave the most strained polite smile I can muster, put my earphones on, and played my loudest music on full volume.(...)

I am Socially Retarded. I Blame my iPod.

I always thought that the stereotypical iPhone user – the ones who do nothing but fiddle with their smartphones all day, tweeting or playing Angry Birds or whatever – was just that: a stereotype. I mean, what kind of idiot would go to a party, and ignore everyone there because those goddamn pigs need to be killed? Well, people, this idiot whose blog you’re reading just ended up being one of those people.

It started out that fateful day I decided to get myself an iPod touch for Christmas. Okay, I’ve been pining for one for the longest time, but I wanted somebody to give it to me. Since all my friends and blog readers (you and that other guy) are cheapskates, I ended up buying my own iPod touch. Buying the iPod was surreal, really. I remember it was payday, and then I found myself at home staring at a brand-new iPod and remembering distinctly that I had to start sucking dicks so I can afford to get to work the next day.

Granted, I’ve done this sort of impromptu purchasing of unnecessary stuff before, and it also ate at my social life, but at least the old ASUS Eee wasn’t as immersive – or as pretty – as the iPod touch. Hell no, I wouldn’t bring that ugly ASUS Eee everywhere – I still want to have women touching my bird. A typical night out with me goes something like this: everyone’s having fun, getting drunk on beer and stuff, while I sit in one corner, nursing my first beer of the night, playing Robot Unicorn Attack. So. Valentine’s Day. Yet Again.

I just made my first online purchase at Amazon a few days back. Luddite that I am, I tend to avoid doing online purchases due to the fear that the little man inside my computer – the guy in charge of making sure that the lights and sound are in sync so I can enjoy watching the latest 1:43 video- might rebel and send my credit card details to some Nigerian guy. But what the hell, it’s going to be Valentine’s Day, and the girlfriend is over at the land where Bryan Adams, Celine Dion and Justin Bieber reign supreme so I might as well break out the credit card and make the purchase.

I timed it very carefully, by the way. I checked the delivery clause well, looking for a way so it gets to the girlfriend exactly on the 14th – not before, or after. I even placed my order at the last possible minute, for timing purposes (this is a perfect excuse for procrastinatiOH HI GIRLFRIEND I WAS JUST JOKING).

Still, the flowers arrived two days too early.(...)

And Just Like That, it’s 2011

Somehow it still hasn’t sunk in that we’ve gone by another decade so fast and we’re just a year away before the North and South Poles reverse and John Cusack tries to find the most convoluted route to China, but here it is. 2011 is here. I’d like to say that I wish this new year isn’t going to be as bad as the previous one, but come on guys, I don’t think there’s a worse year in recent memory than 2009. I mean, come on, fucking Ondoy ruined our shit that year. But I digress. Anyway, 2010 is over and now that 2011 is here, I… don’t know what to do. Huh.

In fact, I don’t even know what to write about in this entry. I’d like to regale you with exciting, riveting tales of how I managed to look for a topic for this blog post and how hard it is to write when I have loads of shit to do on top of this, but the excitement might be too much for you and you’d end up pissing your pants or something.
